Lauren Carr has become one of my favorite authors when it comes to mysteries. I fell in love with the Chris Matheson series, and I have no doubt I’ll love this one too. One of my favorite things about her books is the character guide, a quick rundown on each of the characters.
This is about Bryce Greyson. There are two murders that she is connected to, and she becomes the main suspect in both murders. The police are convinced she killed them and wants to lock her up and throw away the key. She hires a private detective to prove her innocence, Sam MacKade. Sam is a former police officer, and although he had some doubts, he decided to help Bryce.
Here becomes the journey of discovering the truth. Interviewing witnesses, finding clues in attempts to collect all the pieces to find out what happened, but that just leads to more bodies. It seems someone may be persuading the police and media to keep Bryce as the main interest in the murders. The closer they get to the truth, the more dangerous it becomes. It seems whoever is behind the murders may also want Bryce dead.
No one writes murder mysteries like Lauren Carr. This was a great read, definitely a solid 5 on my book rating scale. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
